Hondruas Trip: February 12th-19th, 2011January 18, 2011 at 10:32 pm | No comments
In February 2011, an SCW volunteer team headed to Honduras for a busy and exciting week!
For 5 days, the team helped the community of Plan Grande to put the final touches on their new school. SCW volunteers cleaned and landscaped the site, added stucco to the perimeter walls, installed plumbing and electric fixtures, and built playground equipment. Architects on the team spent time in Santa Cruz and Balincito, planning and designing two future projects: the Special Needs Clinic and a school reconstruction project for an earthquake damaged school. Some group members also travelled to Tegucigalpa to facilitate a seminar at the University Jose Cecilio de Valle, where students considered the future of architecture and architectural education in Honduras. At the end of the week, the team held dedication ceremonies at both the Plan Grande School and Tapiquilares School.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make the February 2011 Honduras trip a success!
